Transgendered and a Scout?

So last week we signed the kids up for beavers. The youngest of the scouting program. I was worried when we had signed them up we would have B rejected.

Nope! B and H are both beavers! They are so happy and excited. Today was the first time we dropped them off for 1.5 hours! For that time we got to spend it with little sister. It was fun.

The kids came home with colouring, and so much more! I'm excited for them to go back next week.

I am also so glad that in Canada they are accepting. That the leader shrugged her shoulders and said "I have never worked with a trans kid, but I'm willing to learn."

Willing to learn. What we all should be doing.

  1. This is wonderful to hear! Especially so after the negative experience with the preschool director, this is very, very much needed. Great for B., great for you, and great for your family! We should all be willing to learn.

  2. I'm in girl scouts, have been since I was 4 or 5, and half way through getting my gold award (equivalent to the boy scout Eagle). As a transboy, this can prove extremely difficult, but as a person, scouts has taught me many things that I would not have otherwise learned. It is so wonderful that B has the opportunity to join his peers for such a promising set of experiences, and a plus that he can go through it with his like-gendered friends.
